Hello.

Meet Poppy & Pip - two four legged friends creating all sorts of chaos for their owner, Hannah.

If you had told me 18 months ago that I would own and operate a local cafe, I likely would have rolled my eyes or laughed, calling it a pipe dream. But when the opportunity arose to make that crazy dream a reality, I didn’t have a set idea of what colour I wanted the walls or what food I wanted on the menu. I do, however, have several pages detailing how I wanted people to feel after they stopped by for coffee. How I imagined the energy and service provided at our store would impact upon people’s day. Whenever I feel doubt, whenever I feel crazy for taking on this business, I revisit those journal entries to refocus on what truly matters. That focus is what makes our cafe stand out from the crowd.

Sharing the journey

As any business owner can probably tell you, I spend most of my time on google searching for “how do I do…”. This is a journey of figuring things out as I go and loving the adventure along the way.

My intention behind every social post, every video, every written feature is to be as transparent as possible about the reality of running a small business - the good, the bad & the ugly!

As part of this process, I have had the privilege of sharing with a community of business owners at an Inspire & Collaborate event, the opportunity to speak to high school students studying business as well as the amazing chance to be featured in Forth Mind Magazine.

I hope that by talking about my experiences in starting Poppy & Pip, other aspiring young business owners will feel less alone in the journey.
